We were deeply honored to host the legendary Dr. Jane Goodall at Ngamba Island. Her inspiring words to our staff and the local community reaffirmed the global importance of our mission.
In a visit that will be remembered for generations, Dr. Jane Goodall — the world’s foremost primatologist — spent two days at Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Dr. Goodall toured the sanctuary, met with our caregiving team, and spent time observing the chimpanzees in their forest habitat. She was visibly moved by the progress made since her last visit, particularly the successful integration of recently rescued individuals.
A Message of Hope
“Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference,” Dr. Goodall told our assembled staff and community partners. “What you are doing here at Ngamba is proof of that.”
Her visit also included meetings with local community leaders to discuss the expansion of our education programs and the importance of community-led conservation.
