Corporate Social Responsibility
Conservation only works when communities benefit too
Community-led Conservation
Chimpanzee Trust's CSR initiatives are deeply rooted in the belief that conservation must go hand in hand with community development. We work with fishing and farming households living adjacent to chimpanzee habitats in the Albertine Rift to promote sustainable living and reduce human-wildlife conflict — ensuring that protecting wildlife genuinely improves people's lives.

Sustainable Agriculture
We support community members with mushroom cultivation, apiary (beekeeping), and climate-smart farming techniques that provide reliable income while reducing pressure on forest resources.

Energy-Efficient Cook Stoves
Distribution and training on wood-efficient stoves that dramatically reduce firewood consumption, cutting deforestation, improving household air quality, and saving families time and money.

Community Awareness Campaigns
Through town-hall assemblies, radio programs, and village-level meetings, we create platforms for dialogue about conservation, land use planning, and conflict resolution between people and wildlife.

Livelihood Development
We empower communities with income-generating alternatives to poaching and illegal logging — from craft-making cooperatives to eco-tourism partnerships that benefit local families directly.
